ELECTRIFIED IRELAND
Department of Climate, Energy and Environment
Commissioned by the Department of Climate, Energy and Environment, Electrified Ireland imagines Ireland in 2050, exploring what the country could look like if its ambitions for clean, renewable energy and electrification are realised. The film was presented to world leaders in July 2026 as part of the launch of Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The film explores how emerging renewable technologies, evolving infrastructure and intelligent energy systems might reshape Ireland’s landscapes, communities and everyday life. We developed four distinct yet coherent visions of the future: a smart village in Clare, a living-roof building in Dublin, a smart factory in the Midlands and a connected urban centre in Limerick.
Combining historical archive footage, contemporary filmed imagery and generative AI, we created a visual narrative spanning past, present and future. The generative sequences bring imagined environments in 2050 to life, while the archival and contemporary footage grounds these possibilities in Ireland’s history and present day reality. Together, they trace the country’s evolving relationship with energy, technology and the natural environment.
Client: Department of Climate, Energy and Environment
Director: Cormac Browne
Creative Director, Ai Design & Animation: Sean Jackson, Way and Form.
Producer, Bronto. Editor, Matt Boyd. Script, Cormac Browne. Music, Michael Fleming. Thanks to DCEE, ESB and Eirgrid.
